How to Create a Hygiene Kit

for health and cleanliness.

1 tube of toothpaste (6-8oz., no pumps)

2 bars of soap (approximately 4 to 5 oz.)

2 hand towels (new towels, approximately 15″ by 25″ )

Place items in a heavy-duty sealable bag.  Remove all air before sealing.

*****(Please do not use dish towels or washcloths,  To sew towels, serge or zig zag the edges of the terry cloth to make a 15″ or 25″ towel.)

We are working in partnership with Faithful Servant Missions in San Ramon, Costa Rica, which has identified three major areas of intervention to break the cycle of poverty: physical, educational and spiritual as part of Chase’s Eagle Scout Project for Troop 388.

This community is primarily Nicaraguans who fled political persecution and economic instability, seeking a better life for themselves and their children.

Initially, the Costa Rican government provided for them; now they are considered “outsiders” and a burden for the people of Costa Rica. Abandoned and poor, these people subsist under the worst physical conditions—wooden shacks with dirt floors.

The unemployment rate is around 80 percent, with most surviving on day labor, prostitution or drug trafficking.

Chase will personally deliver the items and spend several days with the children in the center.
